Akkineni Nageswara Rao, a renowned Indian film actor, passed away on 2014-01-22 at the age of 89. He began his career in 1941 with the film 'Dharmapatni' and throughout his seven-decade career, Nageswara Rao acted in more than 250 feature films in various Indian languages and earned several awards for his work, including Padma Bhushan, Dada Saheb Phalke Award, Raghupati Venkaiah Award and the Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. Nageswara Rao was also known for his philanthropic activities and was credited with the establishment of the Annapoorna Studios and the Annapurna International School of Film and Media in Hyderabad.
