Anne Francis, who had been a Hollywood leading lady in the 1950s and 1960s, passed away on January 2, 2011 at the age of 80. Anne Francis was born in Ossining, New York on September 16, 1930. She began her film career at age five when she appeared in MGM's 1935 production of Little Lord Fauntleroy. In the 1950s, she starred in such films Bad Day at Black Rock, The Hasty Heart, Hogan's Heroes, and Blackboard Jungle, and she eventually earned an Emmy nomination for her appearance in a 1970s TV movie. In 1965 she took the role of the female robotic "hobby" in the film "Forbidden Planet". After that she starred in the cult classic series "Honey West". In recent years, she was best known for her work as Janice Rand on the TV series "Star Trek". In later years, she was a successful book author, writing several books about her life in the entertainment business as well as her own memoir, Voices from Home. Anne Francis was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by many co-stars, friends, and fans.
