Benny Goodman, iconic American jazz clarinetist, passed away at the age of 77 on June 13, 1986. With a career that spanned more than 50 years, Goodman was known as one of the most successful and influential jazz musicians of the 20th century. He began playing professionally at the age of 14 before becoming a major star in the 1930s. He was remembered for his big band performances and notable collaborations with some of the most talented jazz musicians of all time, such as Count Basie and Duke Ellington. His achievements include a Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award and, in 1982, he was inducted into the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame. Goodman is survived by his wife, Alice, his daughter Rachel, and his two grandchildren, Adam and Sarah. He will be remembered for his unparalleled style and legacy in the world of jazz music.
