It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bettie Page, an American model who rose to global fame in the 1950s. Bettie Page died on December 11, 2008, at the age of 85. Miss Page was known for her trademark bangs and beauty spot, and for crafting her well-known pin-up girl persona that captured the imaginations of postwar America. She began modeling in 1949, and in the following years, dominated publicity magazines, movie fanzines, advertisements, and a series of pin-up calendars. In the 1980s, Bettie Page began appearing in public for the first time in a decade and embraced her newfound role as a cultural icon and an ambassador for female empowerment and sexual liberation. Bettie's contributions to the world of modeling will not be forgotten. Her life may have sadly come to an end, but her legacy will live on forever.
