It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of William Joseph Buckner, born December 14, 1949. He died on May 27, 2019 at the age of 69. Bill was a beloved professional American baseball player, who spent 22 years in the Major Leagues. He had made a career out of the sport he so passionately loved. His natural athleticism and commitment on the field led him to play for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox, California Angels, and Kansas City Royals. His illustrious career was marked by many special accomplishments, which included two All-Star Game appearances, a National League batting title, and a Lifetime Batting Average of .289. He was always grateful to have the opportunity to have played the game for such a long period of time. William's true passion in life was being with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and a true friend to those who were lucky to know him. His memory will stay with us forever and he will be deeply missed.

I could just remember how my father used to say that the reason for living was to get ready to stay dead a long time. William Faulkner
