Bobby Bowden, college football's all-time wins leader among major college coaches, died on August 8, 2021 at the age of 91. An Alabama native, Bowden began his coaching career in 1949 as a high school coach, continuing for 14 years before joining West Virginia University's staff in 1970. He became head coach of Florida State University in 1976, during which time he guided FSU to an undefeated season in 1999 and back-to-back national championships in 1993 and 1994. Bowden was awarded college football's highest honor in 2006 when he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He was the recipient of numerous awards during his career, including the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award, and the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award in 1996. Bowden is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ann; four children, Steve, Terry, Jeff, and Robyn; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He will be remembered as a legend in the world of college football.
