Bob Hawke, Australia's 23rd Prime Minister, passed away on May 16th, 2019 at the age of 89. Bob Hawke was a prominent political leader in Australian history, with a career spanning almost two decades of ALP leadership. He served as Prime Minister from 1983 to 1991, during which time he introduced many reforms such as Medicare and APEC. He was also instrumental in supporting Australia's relationship with the United Nations and their peacekeeping efforts. Mr Hawke will be fondly remembered by the Australian public for his wit, charisma and passion for social justice and economic reform. He was an avid cricket fan, and was praised for his efforts to save the sport by reducing ticket and alcohol prices during his term of office. His wife, Blanche D'Alpuget, his 3 children, his step-children and 10 grandchildren survive him.
