Bobby Heenan passed away on September 17th, 2017 at the age of 72. Heenan is remembered as a wrestling legend and comedy genius, who entertained fans over four decades in various sports and entertainment promotions all over the world. Born Raymond Louis Heenan, Bobby grew up in Indiana and made his debut in the wrestling business in 1964. He honed his in-ring career while working in Indiana, where he experienced his first taste of success, becoming a five-time NWA Midwest Tag Team Champion. Heenan’s trademark wit and charisma helped make him one of wrestling’s most beloved and influential entertainers. Heenan went on to spend a lot of time in the WWE, as well as in major promotions like the NWA, AWA, WCW, and more. He was also known as the “weasel” to his manager and foil, “The Brain” Bobby Heenan. Notable wrestlers that Heenan managed included Big John Studd, Mr. Perfect and The Brain Busters. His comedic voice was critical to the development of professional wrestling, as he provided some of wrestling’s best one-liners and funniest moments. Bobby Heenan will be remembered for leaving an indelible mark on the wrestling industry and for using his wry wit and humor to entertain wrestling fans for decades.
