Bubba Smith, a beloved American actor, defensive end, and Pro Football Hall of Fame member, passed away on August 3, 2011, at the age of 66. Bubba was born in Beaumont, Texas, in 1945 and played college football for Michigan State. He was selected first overall in the 1967 NFL Draft and retired from the NFL in 1976. During his professional career, he helped lead the Baltimore Colts to a Super Bowl victory in 1970. After his retirement, he went on to appear in various film and television roles. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. He remains a cherished figure in the NFL and in the Beaumont community. He will be remembered for his overwhelming spirit and passion for the game. Bubba Smith will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
