Legendary comedian Buddy Hackett, born Leonard Hacker on August 31, 1924, passed away on June 30, 2003 at the age of 78. Mr. Hackett is best remembered for his comedic appearances on television and in films such as “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World” and “The Love Bug”, as well as Vegas performances throughout the 1950s and 1960s. He was also a radio and nightclub performer, and made countless guest appearances on shows from the Ed Sullivan Show to the Tonight Show. Mr. Hackett was born in Brooklyn, New York, and started performing in the Catskills at the age of 15. He had a lengthy, successful career spanning more than five decades and won the Tony award in 1960 for his supporting role in the musical “Catch a Star”. Mr. Hackett is survived by his wife Ginger, as well as his children Marla, Wendy, Perry and Sandi. He also leaves behind grandchildren and great grandchildren. Buddy Hackett will be dearly missed by fans and family alike.
