Carrie Fisher, best-known for her iconic role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise, has passed away on December 27th, 2016, at the age of 60. Carrie Frances Fisher was born October 21st, 1956 in Beverly Hills, California. She was the daughter of singer Eddie Fisher and actress Debbie Reynolds. Fisher began her international career in 1975 with the film "Shampoo". It wasn't until 1977 when she first starred in the original Star Wars movie that she took on the role of Princess Leia and achieved international fame. She played the role in the next two films of the original franchise and returned for the latest installment in 2015. Also a writer, Fisher wrote several semi-autobiographical novels and memoirs, most notable being her books Postcards from the Edge and Wishful Drinking. She received numerous awards and accolades for her work, including the British Academy Film Award, the prestigious Saturn Award, and a nomination for the Critics' Choice Movie Award. She is survived by her mother, her brother, her daughter, and her beloved French bulldog Gary. Carrie Fisher's last movie—Star Wars: The Last Jedi— will be released in 2017.
