Christopher Wilder, a well-known serial killer, died on April 13, 1984, at the age of 39. Wilder was born on June 8, 1944, in Sydney, Australia and was best known for an eleven-week crime spree in the United States in 1984 in which he killed eight women and injured at least five more. Throughout his life, Wilder enjoyed taking risks and leading a thrill-seeking lifestyle. Following his graduation from high school in 1962, Wilder served in the United States Army and became involved in a variety of extracurricular activities, including skydiving and rock climbing. Upon his completion of service in the United States Army, Wilder worked a variety of jobs, including time as a stockbroker at a brokerage firm. During this time, his experiences in the military began to manifest into mental health issues that plagued him for the rest of his life. In February 1984, Wilder began a crime spree targeting young women, whom he would kidnap and kill in a variety of states across the United States. His killing spree ended on April 18, 1984 in Florida, when Wilder was shot by police while attempting to kidnap another victim. Wilder will be remembered as a troubled individual who committed a series of heinous acts. He is survived by no immediate family.
