It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dana Wynter on May 5, 2011 at the age of 79. Wynter began her career in the 1950s and starred in many films and television productions throughout her life. Born Dagmar Winter in Berlin, Germany, Wynter's family relocated to England due to the political situation in Europe prior to World War II. After graduation from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, she immigrated to Hollywood where she began her career in films and television. She rose to prominence in her first major role in the science fiction classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and in subsequent roles in films such as The Red Beret, Sink the Bismarck!, and Bacon & Eggs (The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show). In the 1960s, Wynter starred in a number of television series, including 77 Sunset Strip and Wagon Train, along with roles in films such as Adam’s Rib, Anatomy of a Murder, and Question 7. Throughout her long and distinguished career, Wynter was nominated for several awards, including an Emmy Award for Performance by an Actress for Wagon Train in 1961. Our thoughts go out to Wynter's friends and family at this difficult time.
