Dean Jagger, an Academy Award winning actor, died on February 5, 1991 at the age of 87. Throughout his 60-year career, Jagger had an extensive list of film, television and stage credits to his name, appearing in memorable films such as "Elmer Gantry," "The Reivers," "Bad Day at Black Rock," and "Cahill U.S. Marshal." He won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Melville Crump in "Twelve O'Clock High" in 1950. Jagger was a veteran of two wars and served in both World War II with the Navy and the Korean War in the Infantry. He also worked with numerous charities, including Operation Smile, the Doors of Hope Prison Ministry, and the Studio City Lions Club. Dean Jagger was a high achiever and accomplished artist whose dedication and talent shined throughout his body of work. His influence and impact in the entertainment industry will continue to be remembered.
