Dean Jones, the beloved Hollywood actor and Disney veteran, passed away on September 1, 2015 at his home at the age of 84. Dean was a prolific actor and best-known for his Disney roles as Motor McCartney in The Love Bug (1968), Jim Douglas in Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo (1977), and Professor Rubicund-Gander in The Shaggy D.A. (1976). He also became a well-regarded character actor in such feature films as The Greatest Story Ever Told (1965) and Fireball 500 (1966). His memorable TV performances include The Dick Van Dyke Show and Ensign O’Toole. In addition to acting, Dean served as a director for the film Up the Creek (1984) and for numerous television series and movies-of-the-week, including an episode of MacGyver. Dean was born in 1931 in Decatur, Alabama. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Lory, their three daughters, Johanna, Deanna and Caroline, and 6 grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
