With great sadness, the family of Dickie Moore announce his passing on September 7, 2015, at the age of 89. The two-time Academy Award nominated actor was born in Los Angeles, California, and started his career at a very young age, gaining notoriety early in his career for his roles in film. Moore was best known for his roles in the classic 1931 feature “The Champ”, the 1934 horror classic “The Black Cat”, and the 1937 Shirley Temple's feature film “Heidi”. Moore also appeared in several later films including the 1948 drama titled “The Big Clock” and the 1965 Libra entertainment production “The Apartment Complex”. Outside of his acting career, Moore was also a published author, releasing a book titled, “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, But Don't Have Sex or Take the Car: Advice from a Former Child Star,” in 2003. Moore retired from acting in 1965 and is survived by his two children. The family ask that any donations made in Moore’s memory be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in his honor.
