Sullivan was renowned for his iconic television show, The Ed Sullivan Show, which aired from 1948 to 1971 on CBS and was watched by millions of Americans. He became a well-known figure in American culture during the 1950s and 1960s for his show's ability to bring together the stars of rock music, comedies, classic cartoons, and more. As one of the most beloved figures in television, Sullivan was recognized for his wide variety of guests and for influencing an entire generation of children. Sullivan began his career in the 1930s as a newspaper columnist in New York City and enjoyed a successful journalism career until he entered television in 1948. After launching The Ed Sullivan Show, Sullivan quickly became an important figure in the entertainment industry and hosted the likes of Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and Marlon Brando, among others. At the time of his death, Sullivan had been living with his wife Sylvia in New York City. He was 73 years old.
