Ed Wood, legendary filmmaker and actor, died on December 10th, 1978 at the age of 54. Ed Wood was born in Poughkeepsie, New York in 1924. He moved to Los Angeles in 1948 and quickly started creating his own movie projects. He wrote, directed, and acted in many feature films including Plan 9 from Outer Space, Bride of the Monster, and some of the early collaborations between Wood and actor Bela Lugosi. Wood worked in many genres of film, ranging from science fiction, to horror, to drama. His projects often had limited budgets, but the enthusiasm of the cast and crew made them hugely endearing. Ed Wood earned a cult following after his death and is today remembered as one of the key figures in cult cinema. He continues to be an inspiration to filmmakers and fans around the world.
