On December 9, 2013, Eleanor Parker passed away at the age of ninety-one. She was born on June 26, 1922, in Cedarville, Ohio. Eleanor was an Oscar-nominated actress with a career that spanned over five decades. She was perhaps best known for playing the Baroness in The Sound of Music (1965) and as prison warden in Caged (1950), for which she received Oscar and Golden Globe nominations. Her other films include Scaramouche (1952), Interrupted Melody (1955), Friendly Persuasion (1956), and They Died with Their Boots On (1941). Throughout her life, Eleanor also dabbled in television work, appearing in Have Gun – Will Travel (1958) and Fantasy Island (1980), among numerous other roles. She is survived by her two children, Susan and Martinelli, as well as three grandchildren. Eleanor will be remembered for her talent, grace, and commitment to her craft.
