Fernando Ricksen (born 28 October 1975, passed away 18 September 2019) was a Dutch footballer who spent his professional career playing for Fortuna Sittard and Rangers. Ricksen was born in the Netherlands and joined Fortuna Sittard's youth set-up in 1992. He went on to make 127 appearances for the Dutch first-tier club, scoring three goals. His performances earned him a move to Rangers in 2000. With the Glasgow club he won the Scottish Premier League title in three consecutive seasons between 2003 and 2006. He made over a hundred league appearances in eight years at Rangers prior to his retirement from football in 2010, after being diagnosed with motor neuron disease. Ricksen passed away after a prolonged battle with the illness on 18 September 2019. He is survived by his wife, Veronika, their daughter Isabella, and the many people who had the pleasure of watching him play.
