Frances Folsom Cleveland, the wife of President Grover Cleveland, passed away at the age of 83 on October 29, 1947. Born in Buffalo, New York in 1864, Frances was the youngest First Lady in the history of the United States. She was married to President Cleveland, the 22nd and 24th President of the United States, when she was just twenty-one years old. During her time in the White House, Frances was beloved for her charm and vivacity, regularly hosting receptions and teas. After President Cleveland left office, Frances and her husband retired to Princeton, New Jersey. She remained active in the public, though always choosing to stay out of politics. In 1946, she opened a museum in her late husband's honor, which is still active today. Frances was a beloved figure in the community in both Buffalo and Princeton, and will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
