Fred Perry (1910-1995) passed away peacefully on February 2, 1995 at the age of 85. Born in Stockton-on-Tees, England, Fred Perry became a world-renowned tennis player. He was the first British tennis player to win a Grand Slam title. Perry went on to become the only player in history to complete the Grand Slam (winning all four grand slam titles). In addition, Perry won the Wimbledon Championship three consecutive years from 1934 to 1936. He ultimately won 11 major titles in the sport. After retiring from professional tennis in 1941, he opened a successful clothing line and he designed his own line of clothing that was made popular by English football fans. Fred Perry was one of the most dominant tennis players of his time and his success leaves an indelible mark on the sport. He will be remembered as a legend for generations to come.
