Gene Kelly, a beloved dancer, actor, producer, director, and choreographer, died at the age of 83 on February 2, 1996. He had a career spanning five decades and is remembered fondly for his roles in musical and comedy films such as Singin' in the Rain and An American in Paris. He was born in Pittsburgh in 1912 and attended the University of Pittsburgh. Kelly then moved to New York City in 1933 and began to pursue a career in show business.
