On September 22,1999, the beloved actor George C. Scott passed away at the age of 71. George Campbell Scott was born on October 18, 1927, in Wise, Virginia. He was an American stage and film actor, director, and producer whose career spanned seven decades. Scott was perhaps best known for his Academy Award winning performance in the 1970 film “Patton,” playing the title role. His other notable films include “The Hustler” (1961), “The Insider” (1999), and “Dr. Strangelove” (1964). On stage, Scott was nominated for a Tony Award for his role in the 1968 play “The Price,” and he also won an Emmy Award for his performance in the 1978 miniseries “Grace Kelly.” Scott is survived by his two sons, three grandchildren, and his long-time partner, Trish Van Devere. He will be deeply missed.
