George Ivanovitch Gurdjieff, a renowned spiritual teacher and philosopher, passed away peacefully on October 29, 1949, aged 71. Mr. Gurdjieff was well known for his self proclaimed teachings, entitled "The Fourth Way". His teachings encouraged students to combine the principles of Eastern and Western doctrines in efforts to discover the spiritual universe. George Gurdjieff was born in Alexandrapol, Armenia, in 1877 and had a life long interest in philosophy and religions, which he believed were the key to unlocking the mysteries of the human experience. He traveled extensively throughout the East to gather knowledge of various customs, philosophies, and religions, which were included in his book, Beelzebub's Tales to His Grandson. Throughout his life, Gurdjieff's works and teachings inspired the thoughts and beliefs of many, and he is remembered for his unique perspective on the importance of the human soul. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and respected him.
