Harley Race, a true legend in the world of professional wrestling, died at his Missouri home on August 1, 2019, at the age of 76. Race began his wrestling career in 1960 and quickly gained attention as a fiercely talented competitor. A multiple time world champion, Harley won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship eight times and Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Championship twice, Executive of the Year Awards twice, the National Wrestling Alliance Hall of Fame in 2004, and the WWE Hall of Fame in 2004. He is also one of the only six individuals to hold the wrestling Triple Crown and was the only wrestler to hold the NWA United States Heavyweight Championship five times. Harley was a fierce competitor, who built a reputation for his tough resilience and become respected by wrestler and fans alike for his highly acclaimed skills. His legendary career saw him grapple with many of the biggest wrestling names in a career which spanned over five decades. Harley is survived by his son Todd, brother Lenny, daughter Lana, five grandchildren, and one great-grandson. He will be deeply missed.
