We are saddened to announce the death of Harry Houdini on October 31, 1926 at the age of 52. As a celebrated magician and master escape artist, he thrilled and mesmerized audiences around the world with his legendary stunts and feats of daring. Born Erik Weisz in Budapest, Hungary on March 24, 1874, Houdini moved to Wisconsin with his family at the age of 4. He began performing professionally at the age of 17. Over the course of his career, he became a world-renowned illusionist, specializing in escapology, and was noted for his great strength and his ability to get out of handcuffs, locks, and strait jackets. Throughout his career, Harry Houdini continually pushed the boundaries of performance. His willingness to accept ever-increasing challenges as an escape artist made him a true icon of the entertainment world. His memory will be cherished by admirers for generations.
