Legendary Hollywood star Irene Dunne passed away on September 4, 1990 at the age of 91. During her prolific career, Dunne earned two Oscar nominations for her roles in ‘The Awful Truth’ and ‘Irene’, as well as being hailed as one of the top female box office stars for 30 years. Dunne began her career as a singer, performing on Broadway, and later transitioned to the silver screen, appearing in dozens of films including ‘Show Boat’, ‘Cimarron’, ‘Life with Father’, and ‘Theodora Goes Wild’. Beyond her film legacy, Dunne was an advocate for many charitable organizations, including the United Negro College Fund, and served on the Women's Army Corps Support Association board. Irene Dunne was a beloved and respected member of the Hollywood community, and she will be remembered for her memorable performances and selfless humanitarian work.
