Jang Ja-yeon, South Korean actress and model, passed away on March 7th, 2009 at 26 years old. Jang Ja-yeon was born in 1981 in Geochang, South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. She made her acting debut in 2005 in the Korean drama 'Nonstop' and went on to feature in a number of television shows and films, including 'Boys Over Flowers' (2009) and 'Illjimae' (2008). She was best known for her roles in the reality-style comedy show 'We Got Married' and the horror film 'Bloody Tie' (2006). In March 2009, Jang Ja-yeon committed suicide at her home in Bundang, a suburb of the city of Seongnam in South Korea. Her death caused an uproar throughout the Korean entertainment industry and raised serious questions about the exploitation and objectification of female celebrities. Jang Ja-yeon's legacy lives on through her work, remembered for her inability to conform to stereotypes and her willingness to challenge gender roles on screen.
