Joël Robuchon, world-renowned French chef and restaurateur, died on August 6th 2018 at the age of 73. Robuchon achieved immense success in the culinary world, becoming renowned for his influence on modern French cuisine. He was known for fusing traditional French cuisine with modern techniques and his creative use of ingredients. Robuchon was the first chef to receive the coveted maximum of three stars from the popular culinary guide, the Michelin Guide, as well as the first chef to have restaurants with a maximum of 16 stars at once. He received numerous lifetime achievement awards and was names the world's best chef in 1990 by the Michelin Guide, an honor which he held for a staggering eight consecutive years. Robuchon was the author of numerous cookbooks and starred in several cooking and travel programs. His restaurants have been established around the world, though many have since closed, leaving behind multiple Michelin stars. Robuchon's legacy will live on in the kitchens of aspiring chefs who found inspiration from his inventive recipes and unique approach to French cuisine.
