John Phillips, who throughout his life resided in California, died on March 18, 2001, at the age of 65. John graduated from the University of California at San Diego in 1978 and was an avid outdoorsman, often seen fishing at a nearby lake with his young son. He spent his time carefully tending to his garden and creating culinary feasts for friends and family. John worked as an engineer for the San Diego Gas & Electric Company for 35 years, prior to his retirement in 2001. Throughout his career, he was celebrated for his diligence and problem-solving abilities, honored on numerous occasions with recognition and awards. John was also a formidable bowler and held the quality of being a reliable friend to those he deemed worth his company. He spent most of his time reading, listening to music from the 1950s, and taking advantage of the area's hiking trails and nearby National Parks. He is survived by his beloved wife, two children and four grandchildren. John was an iconic figure in his local community. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
