On August 5th, 2022, the world said goodbye to prolific musician and singer, Judith Durham, who passed away at the age of 79. Durham, originally from Melbourne, Australia, made a name for herself as the lead singer of The Seekers, the iconic band she joined in 1963. It was Durham’s incredible vocal range and interpretive style that gave the band their particular sound. Durham wrote some of the most popular Seekers songs like “I’ll Never Find Another You”, “The Carnival Is Over” and “Georgy Girl”, the band’s first number one hit. Durham’s voice and musical talent also saw her touring and selling out shows around the world, from Australia to London. In 1967, The Seekers received an MBE from the Duke of Edinburgh at Buckingham Palace, a testament to their success. After Durham left the band in 1968, she continued to perform solo, making a series of records, and she also made appearances in film and television. Durham was passionate in her championing of environmental issues, an area in which she was deeply involved for many years. Durham will be remembered as an incredible talent and a force for good. She leaves behind many friends, colleagues, and fans, who will continue to remember and celebrate her life and legacy.
