Keenan Wynn, acclaimed actor, passed away on 1986-10-14 at the age of 70. Having starred in more than a hundred films, Wynn was best known for his performances in the Hollywood classic 'Dr. Strangelove', 'The Absent Minded Professor', 'Viva Las Vegas', and 'The Incredible Mr. Limpet'. Born in New York City, Wynn was the son of actor Ed Wynn and lived an incredibly talented and engaged life, even playing the horn professionally on Bobby Hackett's recordings. As a talent scout, Wynn introduced his friends Jack Lemmon and James Stewart to Hollywood at the same time as his film career was beginning. His filmography includes more than 15 Broadway and off-Broadway productions, over 110 films, and many television roles. He won great critical and popular acclaim, earning two Emmy nominations, a Tony Award nomination, an OBIE Award, and national recognition from the Screen Actors Guild for lifetime achievement. He died of cancer, surrounded by his family and friends. He is survived by his second wife Judith, his son Mark, his daughter Tracy, son Adam, and six grandchildren. Keenan Wynn was the epitome of a professional artist and will be remembered for his beloved performances for many years to come.
