Kenneth Lay, passed away on July 5, 2006 at the age of 64. Kenneth was born on April 15, 1942 in Tyrone, Missouri. He grew up in Missouri and received an MBA from the University of Missouri - Columbia in 1964 and a PhD from the University of Houston in 1970. Kenneth had a long and successful career in the energy industry. He worked as a senior executive at Florida Gas, Continental Resources, Houston Natural Gas and Transco Energy. He was also the founder of Energy Company of the Americas, later renamed Enron. Kenneth was an active member of his community, and served on the boards of several organizations and universities, including The Singer Company, The Reagan-Bush campaign, The University of Missouri and the Boy Scouts of America. He was known for his generous contributions to his communities, and was an important figure in the oil and gas industry. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Lucious E. "Jack" and Ruth Lay, and is survived by his wife, five children and nine grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
