Kevin Greene, one of the most prolific and beloved athletes in American pro football, passed away on December 21, 2020, at the age of 58. Greene began his pro career with the Los Angeles Rams in 1985 and quickly developed a reputation as an unparalleled force on the field, being named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in his very first season. His 15-year career spanned 216 games, and he finished it with 160 sacks, which remains the 3rd-most all-time. Greene was most recognized for the dominant tenor in which he played, earning the nickname 'The Predator' in honor of his intense style and voracity for the ball. He was a five-time Pro Bowl selection and accumulated numerous awards throughout his career, including one-time All-Pro selections in 1994 and 1996, the 1996 NFL Alumni Pass Rusher of the Year, NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1996, and the 1998 and 1999 NFL Alumni Defensive Lineman of the Year. After retiring in 1999, he continued to be extremely active in the football community, as well as with various charities. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016. He will be sorely missed by the entire national football community and those fortunate enough to have known him.
