L. Ron Hubbard (1911-1986) passed away on January 24th, 1986 at the age of 74. He was best known for his work as a science fiction and fantasy author, and the founder of the Church of Scientology. His published works include the novel Battlefield Earth and the self-help book Dianetics. He was born in Tilden, Nebraska. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, after which he pursued a career in writing, lecturing, and filmmaking. He was widely viewed as one of the most influential figures in the 20th century. Hubbard's legacy continues to be visible in many areas, including television, film, and popular culture. He is remembered for his works on self-help, as well as his innovative approach to learning about the human mind.
