Li Keqiang, premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, passed away at the age of 68 on October 27, 2023. He was born in Pinyuan, Anhui province to the Li family on July 1, 1955. Li graduated from Peking University in 1982 with a degree in economics and went on to teach at the China University of Law and Politics in Beijing. Throughout his career, Li held various positions in the provincial and national governments. In 2004, after becoming director of The National Development and Reform Commission, Li was appointed to serve as the executive vice premier in 2008. In 2013, he was elected premier of the State Council, succeeding Wen Jiabao. Li served as state Council premier until his death on October 27th, 2023. He is remembered for his dedication in championing the socialist cause in China and promoting national reform. Li is survived by his wife Cheng Hong and three children, Li Huiying, Li Jiaqiang, and Li Xiaolu.
