Malcolm Young, founder and guitarist of the iconic Australian rock band AC/DC, passed away at the age of 64 on November 18, 2017. Young was born on January 6, 1953 in Glasgow, Scotland to William and Margaret Young. The family moved to Sydney in 1963, where Malcolm's musical career began. Over the next several years, Malcolm and his brother Angus formed the core of what would become one of the biggest bands in music history. Young wrote some of the most enduring and recognizable hard rock riffs, lead the band as rhythm guitarist, and served as the head songwriter for AC/DC until 2014, when health issues forced him to step back from recording and touring. Young served as a mentor and father figure to the band, and was highly respected by many in the music business for his no-nonsense approach and dedication to his craft. He is survived by his wife, Linda, his two children, Cara and Ross, and his three grandchildren.
