Mitch Mitchell, known for his work as a drummer and as a founding member of the iconic rock band The Jimi Hendrix Experience, has died at the age of 61. He passed away on November 12, 2008. Mitchell began his career in music at the age of 11, when he began playing drums. He went on to play with musicians such as The Who, Eric Clapton, and Jeff Beck, and later joined The Jimi Hendrix Experience in 1966. With the group, he recorded two albums, including 1967's Are You Experienced and 1968's Axis: Bold as Love. He was highly respected in the music industry, and played alongside greats such as Buddy Rich, Barbra Streisand, and George Harrison. He also contributed to many of Hendrix's posthumous releases. He is survived by his wife, Sue Mitchell, and his daughter, Heather Mitchell. His legacy in the world of music will remain forever.
