Monty Hall, beloved host of the classic game show, "Let's Make a Deal", passed away peacefully on September 30, 2017 at the age of 96. Born Moses Halpern in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on August 25, 1921, Hall enjoyed a successful career as a Canadian radio and television personality before emigrating to the United States in 1956. Hall's career in the states began on the TV game show, "'Video Village". However, it would be Hall's work on "Let's Make a Deal" in which he would truly make his mark on television history. From 1966 to 1986, thousands of viewers enjoyed his charismatic style of hosting. After being diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 1992, Hall might have planned for an earlier retirement, but the show would continue until his last episode on May 29, 1991. He then went on to host Public Broadcasting System's (PBS) National Public Television's (NPTV) "Beyond Chance" until 1999. Throughout his career, Hall received numerous awards, including a Primetime Emmy Award, a Governor General's Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Achievement, and a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Daytime Emmy Awards. In 1999, he was inducted into the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame. Monty Hall was pre-deceased by his wife Marilyn, who passed in June 2017. He is survived by his three children. He was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and colleague. He will be remembered fondly and missed greatly by all those who knew him.

Death comes to all, but great achievements build a monument which shall endure until the sun grows cold. Ralph Waldo Emerson
