Murray Rothbard, the prominent American economic scholar and political philosopher, passed away on January 7th, 1995 at the age of 68. Rothbard graduated magna cum laude from Brooklyn College in 1945 and completed his degree in economics at Columbia University in 1956. An influential member of the Austrian School of economics, Rothbard authored over twenty books and over three hundred articles. He was the founder of the Center for Libertarian Studies and he provided guidance and support to a wide variety of students, researchers, and professionals in the world of economics. Rothbard was recognized as an underground libertarian thinker and intellectual giant of the twentieth century. He was an advocate of "anarcho-capitalism", a system that hinted at the limited voluntary laws of the state, and has been one of the most influential sources in calling for an end to taxation and government intervention in the economy. Although he is remembered as a great economist, many will remember Rothbard's dedication to educational and philosophical causes. He has left an everlasting impact on a generation of academics and students in the United States. His passing will be felt deeply by many and his memory will live on in the works he left behind.

We owe respect to the living; to the dead we owe only truth. Voltaire
