Nancy Marchand (December 19, 1928 - June 18, 2000) passed away on June 18, 2000, in Stratford, Connecticut. She was 71. Born in Buffalo, New York, Marchand was an accomplished Tony Award-winning American theater, film and television actress. She studied acting at the Goodman School of Drama in Chicago and began her acting career in 1948, in the Broadway theatre. She is perhaps best known for her Emmy Award-winning role as "Margaret Pynchon" in the television series "Lou Grant" from 1977 to 1982. Over the span of her 50-year career, Marchand received awards and nominations for television and film roles. Marchand is survived by her husband, Paul Sparer and her three children, Linda, John, and Suzanne. She also leaves behind four grandchildren.
