It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Nedumudi Venu, 73, who passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2021. Nedumudi Venu was an acclaimed Malayalam actor, having appeared in numerous films from the 1970s onwards. He was known for his powerful portrayals, which earned him the National Film Award for Best Actor twice, for his performances in Azhakiya Ravanan (1996) and Koth Rawakeerthanam (2011). He was also known for his work in director Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s films. In his lifetime he won two Kerala State Film Awards, four Filmfare Awards, one Kerala Film Critics Association Awards, the K. P. S. Menon Award, and five Kerala State Television Awards. His death comes as a shock to the Indian cinema industry, which has lost a truly gifted actor and beloved figure.
