Paolo Gucci, renowned Italian fashion and leather goods designer died October 10th 1995 at the age of 64. Born in 1921 to an aristocratic Italian family, Gucci's entrepreneurial spirit was instilled at a young age. After briefly studying art, he quickly established himself at Giorgio Armani's fashion house and went on to work briefly with Gucci family as Chief Designer. Throughout his long career, Paolo designed fashionable handbags, suits, and equestrian inspired products, while reviving the iconic horsebit motif. In the 21st century, Paolo Gucci left an indelible mark on the fashion world, as his designs collectively transcended trends. He received many accolades for his efforts including Italy's highest honor, the Cavaliere del Lavoro, and in 1979, the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. Today, Paolo Gucci's legacy lives on in the pieces he created, that can still be purchased in the original safe, discretion, and quality that he strived for. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and admirers.
