After completing his education at the Royal Military Academy in Athens and the British Royal Naval College, Paul embarked on a successful military career. During World War II, he served as a commander in the Greek army and played a crucial role in the resistance against the German occupation of Greece. In 1947, Paul was crowned as the King of Greece, following the death of his father. During his reign, he worked tirelessly to modernize and stabilize the country and improve its economy. He also played a significant role in promoting Greek culture and heritage, both domestically and internationally. Aside from his duties as a monarch, Paul was also passionate about sports and was a skilled athlete himself. He represented Greece in the 1928 and 1936 Olympic Games, earning a bronze medal in both events. He also served as the President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee for many years. Paul was married to Princess Frederica of Hanover, with whom he had three children, including the current King of Greece, Constantine II. He was also a beloved grandfather to several grandchildren. Paul will be remembered for his dedication and devotion to his country, his passion for sports, and his genuine kindness towards others.
