He served as the President of Pakistan from 2001-08-18 00:00:00 UTC to 2008-08-18 00:00:00 UTC. After leaving office, he lived in self-imposed exile in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Musharraf returned to Pakistan in 2013, only to be arrested and charged with high treason. He was later released on bail. In 2017, he was acquitted of all charges. Musharraf is survived by his wife, Asma, and two sons, Bilal and A Tahir.
