Philippe Pozzo di Borgo, a widely respected entrepreneur, died on June 1, 2023 at the age of 72. A French citizen, di Borgo was born in 1951 in Paris and raised in Algeria, where his family owned businesses. He achieved business success in his adult life, including acting as Managing Director of Champagnac, a French luxury goods company. His most noteworthy achievement, however, was holding the role of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Pommery et Greno, a Champagne-producing company that was founded in 1836. Di Borgo's later life was the subject of an acclaimed French film, 'The Intouchables,' which followed his struggle to adapt to life after a 2003 paragliding accident left him a quadriplegic. Di Borgo was an internationally published writer and inspirational speaker, penning multiple memoirs and making appearances at events around the world. He received honorary degrees from universities and was a Commandeur in the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres of France. Di Borgo is survived by his wife, Pauline; their two children, Laurent and Christiane; and their nine grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered for his business acumen and zest for life.
We owe respect to the living; to the dead we owe only truth. Voltaire
