Qusay Hussein, the eldest son of the former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein, passed away on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2003, at the age of 36. Qusay was born to Saddam Hussein and Saddaja Khairallah and was the eldest son of the Hussein family. He held important positions within the Iraqi government, serving as the commander-in-chief of the Iraqis Special Security Forces from 1994 to 2003. He was a valuable military and political leader and supported his father's regime and was known for his intelligence and loyalty in the military and government. He had a significant role in the suppression of the 1991 uprising, and quelled many of the revolting factions. Qusay was killed alongside his brother Uday in the northern city of Mosul in a gun battle between the US forces and his own security detail. He will be remembered as a leader and a loyalist to Saddam Hussein and to the former Iraqi government.
