Richard Hatch, actor and entrepreneur, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at the age of 71. Born in Santa Monica, California on May 21, 1945, Hatch held a degree in drama from Stanford University, where he also taught acting before embarking on a career in entertainment. He had an extensive career that included well-known roles in television shows such as All My Children, The Streets of San Francisco, and Battlestar Galactica. He also served as a producer for the TV movie adaptation of Blake Snyder's novel, Welcome Home, Johnny Bristol. Hatch was best known for his portrayal as the original Captain Apollo in the Sci-Fi hit series, Battlestar Galactica, from 1978-1979. Hatch's entrepreneurial spirit and hard work earned him a successful entertainment career. Aside from acting, he also wrote several books, including the self-help book, Out of the Cocoon: A Young Man’s Courageous Battle with Cancer, which recounts his battle with cancer. His passing is mourned by all who knew and loved him.
