Rita Hayworth passed away on May 14th, 1987 at the age of 68. Born Margarita Carmen Cansino on October 17th, 1918 in Brooklyn, New York, Hayworth is globally recognized as one of the most iconic Hollywood actresses of all time. Rita Hayworth started her career as a dancer, first in her father’s Spanish dance troupe and then in Hollywood. She made her debut film appearance in 1935 for a small role in "Cruz Diablo" and soon skyrocketed to stardom with a succession of memorable roles which bundled glamour and vivacity into a singular and joyful image. Among her standout performances, she starred in "Cover Girl" in 1944 and "Gilda" in 1946, and soon became known as the definitive femme fatale. Hayworth appeared in over 61 films and she was honored for her career by the American Film Institute in 1982, who voted her the 19th greatest female star of Golden Era Hollywood cinema. She is survived by her three daughters and will be remembered for her glamour and grace.
